Mid-Atlantic Girls Collaborative (MAGiC) Project
The Mid-Atlantic Girls Collaborative (MAGiC) Project is committed to engaging 9,600 STEM mentors over the next three years across the states of Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia as part of the Million Women Mentors movement. We are working to build a strong group of STEM professionals ready to mentor and serve as needed role models to encourage girls to consider STEM majors and careers.
According to MAGiC Leadership Team member, Yolanda Owens, “We have seen a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for the MWM and the FabFems Project in the Mid-Atlantic area. We have successfully leveraged the power of these networks to promote and evangelize women in STEM initiatives this fall and look forward to further expanding our region’s outreach in 2015.”
In 2015, the Collaborative will continue to engage mentors in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia by leveraging the business and industry connections within our Leadership Team and Champions Board members, promoting the Million Women Mentors initiative via the Collaborative e-newsletter, email messaging, events, and social media platforms, supporting local mentors with opportunities to actively role model/mentor through the FabFems Project, and providing role model training through a MAGiC Forum: Techbridge Role Model Training.
