Enterprising Women Promotes Mentoring Girls/Young Women in STEM Globally

“We are honored to be a partner in the Million Women Mentor initiative and so pleased to have the opportunity to spread the message of the program through our network of ambassadors and Advisory Board members across the country. We want to do our part to help the program meet its goal, while working toward our mission of inspiring the next generation of women entrepreneurs,”
-Monica Smiley, Publisher/CEO of Enterprising Women

Enterprising Women magazine, together with our sister nonprofit, the Enterprising Women Foundation, has made a strong commitment to reach out to our audience of one million women entrepreneurs in the United States and 185 countries around the globe to spread the message about Million Women Mentors. Our current issue of Enterprising Women (http://online.enterprisingwomen.com) features an excellent article written by the MWM team on the importance of the program, and the Publisher’s Note column from Monica Smiley discusses the importance of mentoring the next generation of women entrepreneurs, with a particular focus on encouraging young women to start businesses in STEM fields.

In 2015, the Enterprising Women Foundation will host MentoringYEW (young enterprising women) events in cities across America to connect outstanding women entrepreneurs with high school girls who have demonstrated leadership and a strong interest in STEM fields and entrepreneurship. Two girls from each local event will be sponsored to attend the 2015 Enterprising Women of the Year Awards Celebration & Conference at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on March 29-31. The girls will be recognized at a special mentorship luncheon on Monday, March 30 and special programming is planned for them that day, along with a power mentoring hour that will match them by interest area to outstanding women entrepreneurs who will be attending this event from the U.S. and globally.
